Questions and Topics for Your Blog Posting: 1. Explain why you selected each of the TWO videos you choose from the selection listed above. The Mystical North- I chose this video because I am particularly interested in the works of Picasso and Goya. I find Spanish art intriguing and I wanted to explore the topic more.   Dada and Surrealism- I chose this video because I have learned some about Surrealism and the Dada art movement, and the whole thing is very interesting to me from a cultural perspective. The protest -like nature of the Dada movement is interesting because I feel like a lot of our culture stems from that movement last century.   2. For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned. The Mystical North- This video showed how the 20th century changed the worldview of many people in Spain. Mod 10: Mask Making - 4/14/19:

Image
1. Upload the three (3) inspiration images to your Blog (or link to your Photobucket account).  Explain why you selected the inspiration pieces.  The three masks (below) are all from the Carribean. Last month on Spring break, I saw a lot of these kinds of masks while in Puerto Rico (the third image is of a Puerto Rican mask) and I thought they were fascinating, so I decided to research more on masks from the Carribean. I think they all look extraordinary and interesting.   2. Include the analysis and description (art criticism steps) of the three (3) inspiration pieces. This first mask is from the Yare people of North Venezuela. This mask stook out to me because of the colors used and the contrast between light and dark colors. It looks truly terrifying, which is why I chose this one. The shape/form of the mouth and eyes are interesting to me in particular. The lines are fairly loose and the shapes overall are somewhat rounded. The figure is smiling, but in a very demonic way whic

mod 9 hand drawing exercise

1. What was it like using your hand as subject matter for a drawing? It was cool using my hand. My hand is something that I use all the time but never really take moments to look closely at or study.  2. What media did you select - pencil or charcoal? Why? I chose pencil just because it felt easier to me to use and it was convenient to be able to erase when I made mistakes.  3. How did it feel to create a drawing with your non-dominant hand? It felt very awkward and unnatural using my non-dominant (right) hand to draw. I kept getting frustrated and wasn't able to maneuver it the way that I wanted to.  4. Compare and contrast your final drawings. Do you think they are successful studies? The drawing I did with my left hand is definitely better than the one I drew with my right. Overall, I think both drawings were successful, but not very good compared to artists who draw all the time or like the one in the example photo.  5. Would you consider using your non-domi
