mod 9 hand drawing exercise
1. What was it like using your hand as subject matter for a drawing?
It was cool using my hand. My hand is something that I use all the time but never really take moments to look closely at or study.
2. What media did you select - pencil or charcoal? Why?
I chose pencil just because it felt easier to me to use and it was convenient to be able to erase when I made mistakes.
3. How did it feel to create a drawing with your non-dominant hand?
It felt very awkward and unnatural using my non-dominant (right) hand to draw. I kept getting frustrated and wasn't able to maneuver it the way that I wanted to.
4. Compare and contrast your final drawings. Do you think they are successful studies?
The drawing I did with my left hand is definitely better than the one I drew with my right. Overall, I think both drawings were successful, but not very good compared to artists who draw all the time or like the one in the example photo.
5. Would you consider using your non-dominant hand to create artwork in the future?
I would love to practice creating artwork with my non-dominant hand in the future. It would be very cool to be able to use both hands when creating pieces of art or simply to be able to write with either hand in the future. This will take a tremendous amount of practice, however.
