2/24/19 Color Wheel, Value Scale, and Discussion Questions



Discussion Questions:
1. Discuss what you thought about creating the Value Scale and Color Wheel.
I enjoyed the mental space that drawing and painting put me into when I get going. At first, it seemed trivial but it turned out to be really fun.
2. Which media did you enjoy working with the best and why?
I enjoyed working with the acrylic paint, even though the colors that I have weren't the exact same as the ones we needed. I enjoy colors a lot. 
3. What was the most important discovery in the creation of these studies?
It was important to discover how long it can take to create a simple art piece like this. The project forced me to really concentrate on the little steps in the process. 
4. What is the most important information you learned from watching the videos for this project? What is your opinion of the videos?
I enjoyed the videos. I learned that cyan, magenta, yellow are the real primary colors.

1. How was the process of creating the  GMail  account and setting up the  Blog ? It was a fairly easy and straightforward process to create the blog. I used a GMail account that I already had set up and check frequently.  2. What do you expect to learn in this course? I expect to have a better understanding of the basics of contemporary art after completing this course. I do not currently have much experience in understanding the principles of visual art, and do not have a solid framework to be able to look at a piece of art and critique it in any nuanced way. I feel as if this is a course where it will be easier to complete online rather than meeting in a physical classroom. Mod 11 Art Gallery Visit #2 - 4/21/19-

Step 1: The Exhibition For my Art Gallery Visit #2, I visited the Museo de Arte in San Juan, Puerto Rico while I was down there on spring break in March. The museum featured a large collection of some of the most treasured art pieces created from local artists in Puerto Rico.  Questions about the exhibit:  1. What is the title of the exhibit? Mundillo nuestro: Antonio Martorell y sus amigos 2. What is the theme of the exhibition? The theme was a spotlight on native Puerto Rican artist, Antonio Martorell along with other local PR artists on display.  Step 2: The Gallery Questions about the physical space: 1. What type of lighting is used? The is a lot of natural lighting due to the giant windows in the central section of the museum, and each side room was painted a bold color and had dimmed recessed lighting in the room. 2. What colors are used on the walls? Red, Orange, Blue, Green, Yellow 3. What materials are used in the interior artchitecture of the space? Marble, concrete

Module 5: Art Gallery Visit #1

A.) Which artworks make an impact or impression on me? Why? Pablo Picasso's Nude Figure, late spring 1910, made an impression on me. I have not seen too many Picasso paintings in real life, so this was a treat. I love the black, white, and beige color palate, and the shapes used to create the person's body is very unique. The other painting that I feel made an impression on me was Jean Metzinger's Danseuse au cafe , 1912. This painting has a lot going on in it. There is a lot of contrasting colors and shapes that give it a very unique look and feel. Your eyes are directed towards the black and white diamond pattern as well as the blue color that pops out at you. I really enjoyed staring at this painting for a good while.  B.)
