Module 7 Video Review

Questions and Topics for Your Blog Posting: 1. For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned. Architecture: The Science of Design-  This video was interesting and gave a lot of detail about what goes into building skyscrapers. It was interesting to learn about how the wind is the primary concern when building the highrises, not simply the weight of the structure itself. Buildings over 100 stories high can sway a full meter back and forth because the wind pressure is 4 times higher at 100 stories than even 50 stories.  The "smart apartment" segment was also very fascinating. The technology invested in making these buildings comfortable to live in is amazing.  It was also cool to learn about the physical properties of the architecture being built. Learning about reinforced concrete was interesting, because I never thought that there was new science going on when it comes to concrete, something that seems so plain and simple. It's cool to see what new

Mod 6 Peer Review Blogs

1. Hyperlink the Blogs you reviewed into your Blog peer blog #1:  studyartinquiry.blogspot.com peer blog #2:  nadjanil.blogspot.com 2. When looking at Project #1: (Elements and Principles), did you agree with the element or principle the artist listed with the images? Did you see other elements and principles in the images? For peer blog #1 I do agree with the element/principle that the artist used in correlation with the images. I thought it was very well done. For Per blog #2, I had trouble viewing the slideshow, so I'm not too sure if they match or not, but I did leave a comment because the Module 6 directions said to.  3. When looking at Project #2: Where there any images in the Peer Blogs the same as your own? If yes, what were they? Where the reasons the image was selected the same or different as your own? I don't think any of the images were the same as the ones that I put up onto my blog, however, I do remember seeing them while visiting the Albright Knox.

Module 6 video review

1. For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned. Through the Eyes of the Sculptor- I learned about the process of creating a sculpture out of, say, marble, where the sculptor creates what he wants to create in clay so that he can mess around with it and then uses plaster and then marble to create the finished product. It makes sense that one would do it this way, but I have never really thought about it before now. I enjoyed seeing how detailed the silicone impressions of the sculptures were. It was also interesting to see all of the people to traveled to northern Italy to sculpt there. The stone that they were sculpting from was as important as the sculpture itself in many cases.  The amount of effort needed in order to create these sculpures is astounding. It's amazing that people would go through the trouble of quarrying the amount of stone they need in order to create sculptures.  Glass and Ceramics- This video was also interesting to watch. I have seen g

1. Discuss what you thought about creating your logo. I enjoyed creating my own logo. I have always enjoyed logos to some extent, whether they were company logos or sports teams logos. I like the idea of condensing your business into one graphic image as a way of communicating to the world.  2. Describe the process: creative thinking skills and ideas you used in the logo creation. I first thought about what I wanted the image to be about, and then focused on the style and finally the color. I wanted my logo to match part of my personality, and therefore I created a clean and tech-y feel to my logo. The colors of blue, green, and white I felt made the logo pop.   3. What was the most important discovery you made in the creation of your logo? The most important discovery in the creation of my logo was how important it is to have balance in the logo so that the whole thing flows together, as well as the need to capture the attention of the person glancing at it.  4. What is t

A.) Which artworks make an impact or impression on me? Why? Pablo Picasso's Nude Figure, late spring 1910, made an impression on me. I have not seen too many Picasso paintings in real life, so this was a treat. I love the black, white, and beige color palate, and the shapes used to create the person's body is very unique. The other painting that I feel made an impression on me was Jean Metzinger's Danseuse au cafe , 1912. This painting has a lot going on in it. There is a lot of contrasting colors and shapes that give it a very unique look and feel. Your eyes are directed towards the black and white diamond pattern as well as the blue color that pops out at you. I really enjoyed staring at this painting for a good while.  B.) Which artworks do I feel a connection with? Why? The Mark Rothko "Orange and Yellow" was the painting that I connected with the most. This painting is abstract and emotional while being so simple. At first glance, it doesn't seem l
